Previously, I've advocated leveraged instruments. However, based on my current market beliefs, I have stopped using such strategic, long-term leveraged instruments. Stock markets have done well for at least a decade, with few exceptions; thus, we must anticipate that a crisis could occur in which the market plunges more than 50% within a year, as it did in 2000 and 2008. In such a scenario, you do not want to sit on a bullish leveraged instrument. Rather, you might regret it if you didn't buy a tail-risk hedge to cushion the fall, which I did recently. (Currently, I am trading in X8–X12 bear certificates in the S&P 500, Nasdaq, and OMX with about 1–2 % of the value of my portfolio.) That said, I may use tactical bullish leverage (i.e., short-term) from time to time. (According to Nordnet's rules, it is impermissible to display the portfolio on Nordnet Social if someone else, like my wife, has authorization to manage this account as well; hence, you can't see my investments.)
